JAPAN POTTERY | Kutani Japanese Glass Chirori | 360ml

The crystallization of Japanese craftsmanship, Kyuyakazan Chirori, is a teapot.

Since the author has retired, all existing pieces are the only ones available.

 ♦ Purpose:

　The purpose of the Kyuyakazan Chirori is to steep tea leaves and pour warm water.

♦ Size:

　Approximately 175mm in height, 130mm in height (including the handle:150mm),        and a capacity of 360ml.

　Initially, starting from 1991, we introduced wine cups that combined Kutani ware with metal. It was the first time Kutani ware adorned tables as "Western tableware" instead of the traditional "Japanese-style" tableware. However, at that time, the joining technology did not allow for the combination of Kutani ware with glass. So, our president, Mr. Shimizu, dedicated about three years of research and development to the study of joining techniques, even sacrificing his sleep. The result was the birth of Kyuyakazan glass.

This joining technique, in terms of strength and durability, was highly acclaimed and received the Good Design Award in a new field category. It has even been used in meals served during Queen Elizabeth's banquets

♦ Regarding the glass component: The glassware of Chirori is made of handcrafted heat-resistant glass (withstands a temperature difference of up to 120 ℃ [248 °F]). However, it is not suitable for direct heat exposure, such as placing it over an open flame.

The shot glass, on the other hand, is not made of heat-resistant glass.
